UNICEF Receives $1m in Crypto Donations from Binance Charity

Eleven nations, including Kenya, Ghana, Uganda, Egypt, and Nigeria, which might be victims of the lopsided vaccine distribution, are getting the required help through Binance charity, a humanitarian arm of the leading crypto exchange Binance.

Binance charity made the first crypto donation amounting to $1 million to UNICEF (United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund) to aid in administering COVID vaccines to the eleven countries by this year ending.

The move is among the crypto to combat the COVID campaign by the charity platform. Binance charity has donated $4 million to the international battle against the pandemic in more than twenty countries.

Helen Hai, Binance charity leader, stated that the platform prides itself on helping those leading in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic. The philanthropic arm plans to do so via direct contributions and plans to continue offering the services long after the pandemic. Moreover, Hai said that Blockchain would end the problems that have been facing the charity sectors. That is because distributed ledgers are immutable, scalable, and speedy to remove donor concerns, thus maximizing philanthropic impact.

The organization envisions transforming traditional contributions with a transparent process facilitated through its blockchain technology. The platform encrypts each donation to generate transaction ID through an undisputable public ledger. Donors can utilize the ID when tracking the various donation steps.

WHO (World Health Organization) reported that Africa received not more than 2% of the COVID doses worth 690 million. Also, in April, most African nations received small quantities of the vaccines.

Matshidiso Moeti, the Africa regional director, stated that the continent remains in the starting line, though different nations have made progress in dealing with the pandemic. The director declared that most individuals in the region could not access COVID vaccines due to partial stocks and supply holdups. Moreover, Moeti argued for fair access to the Covid-19 vaccines to combat the worldwide pandemic.

You probably know how the pandemic affected the economy. Charity organizations, governments, and medical institutions are joining hands to deal with the monster that has been here for over a year now. Join the movement, even if it means maintaining general cleanliness and adhering to the stipulated COVID regulations.
