772 MILLION EMAIL ADDRESSES AND 22 MILLION UNIQUE PASSWORDS HAVE APPEARED IN THE NETWORK

772 MILLION EMAIL ADDRESSES AND 22 MILLION UNIQUE PASSWORDS HAVE APPEARED IN THE NETWORK

According to the post of Troy Hunt, an Australian Microsoft Regional Director, on the cloud service MEGA and “popular forum for hackers” was posted file of 87 GB “Collection №1”, which contains 772 million e – mail addresses and 22 million unique passwords. He, said that more than 140 million e-mail addresses and 10 million passwords had never been in open access at the same time.

The collection, a total of 2 692 818 238 lines, consists of many different individual data breaches from thousands of different sources. Of course, the part is text garbage because hackers do not always neatly format their data dumps.

It is remarkable that the Regional Director of Microsoft admitted that in the collection there are also his personal data, having concluded that cybercriminals didn’t try to hide in a darknet or to put them for sale. Hunt recommends that you check the address on the website Have I Been Pwned? (HIBP), which will search and can show the source of the leak. If the site shows that a data leak has occurred, you must change the password to a more complex one.
