SAMOURAI WALLET IS FORCED TO REMOVE PRIVACY FEATURES FROM THE WALLET UPON GOOGLE’S REQUEST
On Monday the developers of the bitcoin wallet with increased privacy Samourai Wallet reported that the special features of the Android application were forced to be disabled due to requirements from Google Play.
“We regret to inform you that we are forced to disable a number of private functions, starting with version 0.99.04, due to the new, extremely strict rules of Google, which the company has adopted to better control the experience of interaction of its users,” wrote representatives of Samourai on Twitter.
Due to the unfair demands of Google, the team Samourai Wallet has disabled the popular “stealth-mode”, “protection from switching SIM-card” and the ability to “remote commands via SMS.” It is noteworthy that these functions are integrated into Samourai Wallet since the first release of the wallet in 2015.
The developers of the wallet noted that they have already issued an application for exclusive rights to save the data of features in the application, but Google did not give its approval. It is reported that the Corporation is not interested in the security benefits that their application gave to users before.
At the moment, downloading the full version of the wallet Samourai Wallet is possible from the site GitHub.
Earlier, the developers of Samourai Wallet announced their intention to launch the “cache” function to create private channels for the exchange of transactions without disclosing bitcoin addresses.
